Titan Sports Hall of Fame
The late Marlowe Tolbert was a standout performer on the Westminster track and field and cross country teams for head coach Harold Burry in the mid-1950s. Tolbert was a four-year letterman on the track team from 1953-56 and was a captain for three years.
Tolbert led the Titans to the Tri-State Conference Championship in 1955 and 1956, the latter year the Titans posted a perfect 8-0 record in dual meets. During his career Tolbert set the school record in the 440 at 50.9 seconds. He also excelled in the 880.
Tolbert was a letterman for the cross country teams in 1952 and 1955 and he placed fifth in the 1952 Tri-State meet with a time of 24.35.
A 1956 Westminster graduate, Tolbert lived in Sliver Springs, Md., before his passing.
