A four-year starter at letterwinner for baseball team under Buzz Ridl, he was a pitcher 1958 squad that captured the NAIA District 30 state championship (first in school history) and finished the season 14-1. Brenner set a pair of school records, as his 7-1 pitching mark established a new record for victories in a season while he also worked a school-record 25 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings. His career pitching record as a Titan was 13-5. Brenner was also a four-year member and two-year letterwinner with the football team (including the 1956 undefeated season) who started at offensive and defensive end.
