Titan Sports Hall of Fame
Felton Brown is arguably the fastest man to ever graduate from Westminster College. A four-year letterman and captain of the 1960 Titan team, his records in the sprints still stand atop the Titan record board almost 50 years since they were set. Titan coaching legend Harold Burry once called Brown "The best sprinter Westminster has ever had."
Brown quickly established himself in Titan track annals by winning the 100-yard and 220-yard dashes at the Tri-State Championships in both his freshman and sophomore years. As a freshman, his time of 0:21.5 in the 220-yard dash tied the meet record.
He went on to set school and district records of 0:09.5 in the 100 and 0:20.9 in the 220 as a sophomore. Those school records were converted to 100 meter and 220 meter equivalencies. Brown won the Halferty Memorial Trophy in 1959 as the first winner of the 100-yard dash at the first ever West Penn Conference meet. He was an integral part of Westminster winning district and conference titles all four years he competed.
A native of Monessen, Brown earned his degree in history from Westminster in 1960. He currently resides in Plano, Texas, where he is a school teacher. He and his wife, Frances, have four children.
