McDermott capped off an outstanding career as a Titan by receiving the Marjorie A.

Walker Award that signifies the top senior female student-athlete at Westminster. She was a four-time All-PAC honoree, earning first team recognition as a senior, second team all-conference as a sophomore, and honorable mention as a freshman and a junior. McDermott was voted the PAC Volleyball Player of the Year following her senior season as well as the Westminster Team MVP award. She also served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons.
McDermott ranks fourth all-time in career blocks (408) and fifth all-time in career kills (1,069). She was selected to various all-tournament teams during sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.
A History major with minors in Secondary Education and Spanish, McDermott was named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll.
McDermott was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society and Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society. She was also a member of SAAC and served as SAAC Vice President.
A native of Austintown, OH, McDermott attended Austintown-Fitch High School.
McDermott currently is a middle school social studies teacher at Ridgeline Middle School in Yelm, WA. She also volunteers as the leader of a family readiness group at Joint-Base Lewis McChord, supporting military spouses and families. She and her husband Walton Gouldin, a Captain in the United States Army, reside in Lacey, WA.
