Haas retired in June of 2005 after coaching the Titan women's tennis team for 14 seasons. While compiling a career record of 79-81-1 (.494) as tennis coach, Haas guided the Titans to five district/conference championships.

Haas also spent 22 seasons (1970-92) as the head women's basketball coach at Westminster, compiling a career record of 144-194 (.426) and earning NAIA District Coach of the Year honors in 1988-89. In 2006, Haas was chosen as a recipient of the HERitage Award, selected by the Division of Girls and Women in Sport (DGWS) nominating committee. The award was conferred at the Pennsylvania State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (PSAHERD) Convention in December 2006.

Also in 2006, Haas was inducted as one of the "Pioneers of Women's Basketball" selected by the Super Girls Scouting Service at their annual Nothing But the Best Classic at Oakland Catholic High School in Pittsburgh.

Haas was born in California and grew up in Marion, Ohio, before graduating from New Castle High School in Pennsylvania. She earned her college degree from Slippery Rock in 1967 in physical education and her master's in education from SRU in 1971. After teaching in public schools for three years she came to Westminster in 1970.

A current resident of New Castle, Haas is the daughter of the late Arthur L. Haas who built the New Castle YMCA. Her mother also resides in New Castle. Her brother is a CEO of a group of YMCAs in Orange County New Jersey.
