A four-year letterman and starter in baseball, Schrecengost was also a three-year letterman and a two-year starter in basketball for Westminster.
In baseball, Schrecengost was a First Team NAIA All-American and First team All-WPIAC as a senior, a year in which he also served as team captain and was named Team MVP after leading the Titans with a .391 batting average. Schrecengost led the Titans in RBI's as a sophomore, junior, and senior (second on the team as a freshman). He was second on the team with a .325 batting average as a freshman. Schrecengost was the starting first baseman on teams that won the WPIAC baseball championship three of the four years he played.
In basketball, Schrecengost was the team co-captain as a senior. He was the 6th man on the 1961-62 team which was voted the No. 1 small college team in country after finishing as NAIA National Runners-Up. A starter as a junior and senior, Schrecengost was the third leading scorer on the 1964 WPIAC championship team. He was a member of teams that won the WPIAC basketball championship three of the four years he played.A Kittanning, PA H.S. graduate, Schrecengost majored in political science at Westminster. He currently resides in Marietta, GA, where he retired after 22 years of teaching and coaching and 25 years in the business world as a regional vice president. He and his wife, Sandra, have been married for 44 years. They have two children named Matt and Molly, and three grandchildren.
