Emilee Ackerman Atkins '08 served as a three-year captain of the Titan women's basketball team as well as a one-year captain of the women's golf team. A two time Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) First Team honoree, she helped guide the Westminster women's basketball team to its first-ever PAC Championship in 2005. She is the all-time leading scorer in school history with 1,483 points, and holds the single season record of 611 points (2008). In 2007, she was an integral part of Westminster setting a school record in wins with 22.
Atkins was named CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All America in 2008 (first in team history), Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division III State Farm Coaches' All-America Team Honorable Mention (first in team history), D3Hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region (2007 third team, 2008 first team), and CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Third Team Academic All-District II (2007, 2008). She was the recipient of the Majorie A. Walker Award, which is awarded to a Titan female student-athlete who shows fairness, sportsmanship, leadership, determination, and competitiveness, and also received the Female Westminster Exceptional Sports Performances of the Year (WESPY) Award which is given to the top athletic performance by a Titan student-athlete. She also earned numerous PAC Player of the Week honors, a ECAC South Player of the Week award, PAC-SAAC Scholar-Athlete of Month recognitions, and multiple spots on the PAC Academic Honor Roll. She was named the Team MVP of the women's basketball team during her sophomore and senior seasons, and the Team MVP of the women's golf team during her senior year. She earned PAC Golf Second Team honors as a junior and a First Team nod as a senior.
Atkins, who was named on the Dean's List multiple times, was involved in a variety of other organizations, including the Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC), the Student Life and Athletic Council, the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and the Mortar Board. A native of Greensburg, Pa., Atkins attended Hempfield Area High School and earned a degree in elementary education from Westminster. She and her husband, Jay, and daughter, Brinlee, reside in Harrison City. She currently works as a second grade teacher at the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School.
