Outdoor Track and Field: Titans Shine Through Inclement Weather at Home Invite

RESULTS

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's and women's outdoor track and field teams combined for five first-places finishes at their home invitational on Saturday.

"Typically this is our dress rehearsal for PACs, but with the weather we had to adjust," said head coach Tim McNeil. "We decided to work more on training and getting healthy. Even though we shifted focus we still had some great performances. Joe Kurelowech won the pole vault, Bre Davis was outstanding today in 100 hurdles and high jump. Jake Patton had a great comeback meet doing great in the javelin and pole vault, and we had a fantastic performance in the men's 4x400 with Jake Musselman, Jake Patton, Ryan Beard, and Shamar Love. Overall we made the most out of crazy weather day."

The Titan men had pair of first-place relays, which juniors Ryan Beard (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) and Shamar Love (Bridgeton, NJ / Bridgeton) were both a part of. The 4x100 relay team, consisting of Beard, Love, senior Amon Sams (Chantilly, VA / John Champe), and junior Komari Clark (Scottsville, KY / Heard County), clocked in at 43.19. Beard and Love also teamed up with seniors Jacob Patton (Harrisville, PA / Moniteau) and Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico) for gold medal honors in the 4x400 with a time of 3:27.84. Sophomore Joseph Kurelowech (Erie, PA / McDowell) won the pole vault with a personal-best jump of 15'0"(4.57m).

For the women, graduate student Megan Parker (Mercer, PA / Mercer Area) won the shot put with a toss of 43'10" (13.36m). Parker also placed fourth in the discus (37.54m). Junior Emma Rudolph (Santa Clarita, CA / Golden Valley) earned the gold in the pole vault with a jump of 12'0.5" (3.67m).

Other top performances for the men included Patton (400 hurdles/2nd/56.20 and javelin/9th/151'2" (46.08m)) and Mussleman (200/7th/23.19).

Other top performances for the women included senior Erynn Daubenmire (Mentor, OH / Willoughby South) (javelin/7th/100'5" (30.61m)), sophomore Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, OH / Streetsboro) (high jump/5th/1.50m (4'11") and 200/9th/28.14), senior Katie Schrantz (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) (5,000/9th/19:38.86), and junior Sadie Cunningham (Webster, NY / Webster Thomas) (800/16th/2:35.12).
