SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Westminster men's and women's outdoor track and field teams made impressive marks at the Dave Labor Invitational, hosted by Slippery Rock, on Saturday.
"There were A LOT of good things today," said head coach
Tim McNeil. "There were some top-10 NCAA marks today, including graduate student Megan Parker (Mercer, PA / Mercer Area) in the shot put, junior Emma Rudolph (Santa Clarita, CA / Golden Valley) in the pole vault, and the men's 4x100-meter relay team (senior Amon Sams (Chantilly, VA / John Champe), junior Ryan Beard (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional), junior Komari Clark (Scottsville, KY / Heard County), and Shamar Love (Bridgeton, NJ / Bridgeton). Also a top-35 mark by Sams in the 200."
Parker broke her own school record in the shot put with a toss of 45'11.25" (14.00m) for second place. Rudolph won the pole vault with a personal-record mark of 12'9.5" (3.90m). Both marks are unofficially the best in their respective event in NCAA Division III currently.
The 4x100 team finished second with a time of 42.01. Sams placed second in the 100 (10.98) and third in the 200 (22.16).
"There were good individual performances from athletes that will be huge down the road in the PAC meet, including sophomore Anthony Kamenski (Chicora, PA / Karns City Area) in hurdles, Beard in the 200, senior Erynn Daubenmire (Mentor, OH / Willoughby South) in the javelin, and senior Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico) in the 400," said McNeil.
Kamenski set a personal-best in both the 110 (17.06) and 400 (59.99) hurdles, Beard placed eighth in the 200 with a personal-record time (22.68), Daubenmire placed fourth in the javelin (36.20m), and Mussleman placed ninth in the 400 (51.76).
"I was pleased with sophomore Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, OH / Streetsboro) in jumps (first meet of the season) and sophomore Jessica Fatigati (McDonald, PA / West Allegheny) in the 100," said McNeil.
"Still a long way to go," added McNeil. "Everyone there today gave effort. I appreciate the grinding through a very long day."
