NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Grove City College at home in a make-up meet Monday evening.
The Titan women (4-4, 2-2 PAC) fell to Grove City (3-6, 3-0 PAC) by a score of 183-111, while the Titan men (5-3, 3-1 PAC) lost to the Wolverines (3-6, 3-0 PAC) by a score of 162-132 for their first conference loss.
For the men, the day was highlighted by a new pool record set in the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of senior
Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley), junior
Blaine Sorrick (Mantua, OH / Crestwood ) and sophomores
Trevor McCabe (Avon, NY / Avon Central) and
Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico) teamed together to set the new record with a time of 1:26.32, winning the event in the process. Kwalick also claimed a victory in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.20, and the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.79. In other action, junior
Roody D'Agaro (Bridgeville, PA / Chartiers Valley) notched a victory in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:46.27, while classmate
Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park) earned two victories in the 3 meter dive and the 1 meter dive with scores of 297.83 and 341.75, respectively.
For the women, senior
Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) notched two individual victories in both the 3 meter dive and the 1 meter dive. Fast won the 3 meter dive with a score of 243.30 and the 1 meter dive with a score of 234.83. First-year
Baylee Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) won the 50 freestyle event with a time of 25.69.
The Titans will be back in action on Friday, February 7 when the divers travel to Clarion University to compete starting at 6:30 p.m.
