Three earn Academic All-District®

GREENWOOD, Ind.--Three members of the Westminster men's swimming and diving program were recently recognized by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) with Academic All-District® honors. 

Graduate student Gino Piraino (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional), junior Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) and sophomore Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) were recognized. 

Piraino, pursuing his Master of Business Administration (MBA), carries a 3.80 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). He has been named to the College's Dean's List once and has been named to the Presidents' Athletics Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll once. Piraino earned First Team All-PAC and registered a runner-up finish on the 1-meter board, scoring 337.83 points in the 11-dive competition at the PAC Championships in February. 

A history major, Webster maintains a 3.92 cumulative GPA. He has been named to the College's Dean's List five times and earned PAC Academic Honor Roll distinction twice. At this year's PAC Championships, Webster was a member of the fourth-place 200 freestyle (1:30.42) and 200 medley (1:42.23) relays. He also swam on the fifth-place 400 freestyle (3:18.55) and 800 freestyle (7:23.53) relays. He was named to the PAC's Sportsmanship Team at the conclusion of the championships. 

Katigbak, a finance major, carries a 3.61 cumulative GPA. He has been named to the College's Dean's List twice and was named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll last spring. At the PAC Championships, Katigbak was the runner-up in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:55.37. He also finished fourth in the 100 backstroke (52.66) and eighth in the 50 freestyle (22.01). Katigbak anchored the 200 free relay, swam breaststroke on the 200 medley relay and led off the 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle relays. He was named First Team All-PAC for the second-straight year.


Westminster concluded its season with a fifth-place finish at the PAC Championships.
