Katigbak finishes as runner-up in 200 backstroke

GROVE CITY, Pa.--Sophomore Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) scored a runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke to lead Westminster's men's swimming and diving program at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday night. 

Westminster finished in fifth place with 235 points. Grove City topped the seven-team championship field with 1063. Saint Vincent finished second with 710. 

Katigbak posted a time of 1:55.37 in the 200 backstroke. He entered the championship final with the fourth-best time after Saturday morning's preliminaries (1:57.83). Katigbak was also runner-up in the event last season. 

Freshman Ethan Bishop (Meadow, Utah, Millard) registered a fourth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:15.66. He cut nearly a minute off of his initial seed time. 

Junior Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) finished 10th in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.38). Freshman Joseph Galbraith (Waterford, Pa., Fort Le Boeuf) was 11th in the 100 freestyle (49.59) and sophomore Will Nebiolo (Glenshaw, Pa., Shaler) was 16th (55.38).

Westminster's 400 freestyle relay was fifth (3:18.55). Members of the relay were Katigbak, Webster, Bishop and Galbraith. 

Webster was recognized as a member of the PAC's Sportsmanship Team at the conclusion of Saturday's finals. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams.
