NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed against the University of Mount Union in a non-conference dual meet at home on Saturday for Senior Day.
The Titan women (4-3) defeated Mount Union (5-5) by a score of 176-121, while the Titan men (5-2) lost to the Purple Raiders (9-2) 176-123.
For the women, seniors
Gabie Johnson (Dover-Foxcroft, ME / Foxcroft Academy) and
Abigail Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch), junior
Nyna Hess (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Davidson) and first-year
Baylee Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) teamed together to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:57.14. Jones also grabbed an individual victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:13.25, while Horvath snatched two individual victories in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.80 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.85. Marissa Bowers (Cuyahoga Falls, OH / Cuyahoga Falls) earned two individual victories, winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.54 and the 200 backstroke with a mark of 2:17.10. Sophomore
Anna Grimenstein (Bridgeville, PA / Homeschooled) won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:21.13. Senior
Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) earned a first-place finish in both the 1-meter dive and the 3-meter dive with scores of 227.78 and 248.40, respectively.
For the men, seniors
Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley), junior
Blaine Sorrick (Mantua, OH / Crestwood)and sophomores
Trevor McCabe (Avon, NY / Avon Central) and
Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico) teamed together to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.08. The same quartet also won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:26.77. Kwalick won the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.36, while Sorrick earned a victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.34. Junior
Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park) claimed victory in the 1-meter dive with a mark of 321.68, while sophomore
Patrick Holton (Livonia, MI / Winston Churchill) won the 3-meter dive with a score of 276.90.
Westminster will be back in action on Monday, February 3 when it takes on Grove City College at home in a make-up meet at 6 p.m.
