Swimming & Diving: Titans Sweep W&J in Home Opener

Results

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams swept Washington & Jefferson College in their home- and Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC)-opener on Saturday.
 
The Titan men won 160.5-70.5, while the Titan women won 147.5-73.5.
 
Westminster senior Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley) earned three first-place finishes (200 freestyle/1:50.10, 50 freestyle/22.26, 100 freestyle/49.13). Senior Aaron Dunlany (Boardman, OH / Boardman) swept the breaststrokes (100/1:01.49 and 200/2:08.32). Also earning a victory were junior Roody D'Agaro (Bridgeville, PA / Chartiers Valley) (1,000 freestyle/10:46.86), first-year Stephen Adametz (Glenshaw, PA / Shaler Area) (200 butterfly/2:12.99), senior Thomas Somora (Grove City, PA / Grove City) (200 breaststroke/2:23.61), and junior Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park) (1-meter dive/288.83). The 200 medley relay, consisting of first-year Mark Lanterman (Youngstown, OH / Poland Seminary), sophomore Trevor McCabe (Avon, NY / Avon Central), sophomore Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico), and junior Blaine Sorrick (Mantua, OH / Crestwood), won with a time of 1:41.38.
 
The Titan women had eight individual first-place finishers and a winning relay. Senior Maggie Manolis (Jeannette, PA / Jeannette) (200 breaststroke/2:40.84), senior Abigail Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch) (1,000 freestyle/11:53.57), sophomore Megan Routch (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) (200 freestyle/2:07.88), sophomore Anna Grimenstein (Bridgeville, PA / Homeschooled) (200 butterfly /2:29.97), first-year Baylee Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) (50 freestyle/25.74), sophomore Marissa Bowers (Cuyahoga Falls, OH / Cuyahoga Falls) (200 backstroke/2:17.36), and junior Zoe Cable (Brookville, PA / Brookville Area) (1-meter dive/202.28) also won an individual event, while first-year Shannon Greer (Greensburg, PA / Hempfield Area) tied for first in the 100 backstroke (1:06.16). The quartet of Manolis, senior Gabie Johnson (Dover-Foxcroft, ME / Foxcroft Academy), sophomore Carinna Lapson (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell), and senior Emily Russell (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:00.85.
 
Westminster will next travel to The College of Wooster on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.
