WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team opened up play in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Saturday with a 5-1 win at Waynesburg.
The Titans are now 6-6 overall and 1-0 in the PAC. Waynesburg falls to 1-11 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Senior forward Ian Hill (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) scored the first two goals of the game for Westminster with markers in the sixth and 15th minutes. Hill also assisted on the final goal of the game by senior Brice Lott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum).
The Titans led 2-0 at halftime before sophomore Jake Huey (Butler, Pa./Butler) scored just 50 seconds into the second half and sophomore Tyler Ryan (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) gave the Titans a 4-0 lead with a goal in the 69th minute.
Ryan Hartz kept junior goalkeeper Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) from preserving a shutout when Hartz scored in the 72nd minute. Codita made two saves over 75 minutes.
Westminster outshot the Yellow Jackets 23-11.
The Titans return to action Sunday at home vs. Thomas More for a 3 p.m. start.
