Westminster, Pitt-Greensburg play to 1-1 draw in home opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's soccer program battled to a 1-1 draw with Pitt-Greensburg Saturday night at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster's record stands at 0-1-1 while Pitt-Greensburg is now 1-0-1. 

Caleb Rumberger scored 38 minutes into the match off a Mitch Murray pass to give Pitt-Greensburg a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Five minutes into the second, sophomore forward Santiago Fernandez (Lake City, Fla., Freedom) delivered a ball into the box off a corner kick, where fifth-year forward Dylan Weiss (South Park, Pa., South Park) headed in a goal to even the match at 1-1. 

Junior Aaron Snyder (Hatboro, Pa., Upper Moreland) had three saves, including a pivotal save on a Lucas Pittman shot in the 80th minute. 

Pitt-Greensburg outshot Westminster 15-9 and had the edge in shots on goal, 5-4. Pitt-Greensburg took four corner kicks to Westminster's three.

Westminster travels to take on Wooster Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
