Ritzert finishes sixth in pentathlon at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--The Westminster College men's indoor track and field program wrapped up competition at the two-day Youngstown State University Mid-Major Invitational, presented by Southwoods Health, Saturday evening. 

Junior Jalen Ritzert (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) finished the heptathlon in sixth place with career-best 3,779 points. On Saturday, he was sixth in the 1000 meters with a time of three minutes, 09.69 seconds, ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.009 seconds and third in the pole vault after clearing 3.75 meters 912-03.50). He was in seventh place Friday with 2,134 points after finishing fifth in the high jump, equaling his personal best after clearing 1.70 meters (5-07), eighth in the shot put with a throw of 9.15 meters (30-00.25), ninth in the long jump with a top mark of 5.69 meters (18-08) and 12th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.747 seconds.

Freshman Tyrek Kelley (Medina, Ohio, Medina) tied for seventh in the unseeded high jump competition, clearing a height of 1.65 meters (5-05). Sophomore Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) was 11th in the elite shot put competition, finishing with a top throw of 13.30 meters (43-07.75). Junior Bryce Carroll (Sharon, Pa., Sharon) was 28th in the open shot put competition with a throw of 11.10 meters (36-05). 

Graduate student Anthony Kamenski (Chicora, Pa., Karns City)  finished 33rd in the 400 meters with a time of 53.89 and was 15th in the preliminaries of the 60 hurdles with a season-best time of 8.78. Senior Dane Fasick (New Brighton, Pa., New Brighton) finished 35th in the mile (4:37.85) while sophomore Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) was 50th in the 3,000 meters with a personal-best time of 9:35.42. 

Junior Ben White (Warren, Pa., Warren) posted a season-best time of 7.385 in the preliminaries of the 60, finishing 40th, and registered a personal-best time of 55.45 in the 400, finishing 42nd. He was also 48th in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 23.80.

Westminster is scheduled return to Youngstown on Friday, Feb. 14 for Youngstown State's Last Chance. Next Saturday, Feb. 15 the Titans are scheduled to head to Geneva, Ohio for the SPIRE Indoor Games.
