School records fall Friday at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--A pair of school records fell Friday for the Westminster College men's indoor track and field program at the Youngstown State University Last Chance, held inside the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).

Freshman Rylan Dye (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) was fourth in the high jump, setting a new indoor record after clearing a height of 1.95 meters (6-04.75). It is currently tied for the top mark among Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competitors. Friday was Dye's first competitive jump at the collegiate level.

Senior Dane Fasick (New Brighton, Pa., New Brighton) finished fifth in the mile, establishing a new school record with a personal-best time of 4 minutes, 34.10 seconds. His effort surpassed the previous program record held by Neil Christopher (4:37.81 in 2017).

Freshman Aaron Hankerson (Reidsville, Ga., Robert Toombs Christian Academy) was fourth in the 60 meters with a personal-best time of 6.97. He qualified fifth after posting a time of 7.16 in the preliminaries. Hankerson also scored a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 22.56. 

Sophomore Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) registered a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a top throw of 14.22 meters (46-08). He was also 14th in the weight throw (11.61m, 38-012.25). 

Graduate student Anthony Kamenski (Chicora, Pa., Karns City) finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.94. He came out of the preliminaries with the eighth-best time (8.84). Sophomore Kory White (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown Fitch) tied for seventh in the high jump, clearing a season-best 1.77 meters (5-09.75), while sophomore Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) was eighth in the shot put (13.10m, 42-11.75) and 12th in the weight throw (13.12m, 43-00.50). Freshman Tyrek Kelley (Medina, Ohio, Medina) posted a 10th-place finish in the triple jump with a personal-best jump of 11.59 meters (38-00.25) while sophomore Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) finished 12th in the 800 (2:04.72). 

Westminster's 4x400-meter "A" relay closed out the event with a fifth-place finish, registering a season-best time of 3:38.84. Members of the relay included Kamenski, sophomore Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge), Hankerson and sophomore Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex).

Up Next:
Westminster is scheduled to complete in Nazareth University's Conference Tune-Up next Friday in Rochester, N.Y. Events are scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m. inside the Golisano Training Center.
