Katigbak 5th in 100 back Friday at Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio--Sophomore Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) highlighted Friday's evening session at the Wooster Invitational for the Westminster College men's swimming and diving program, registering a fifth-place finish in the 100 back.

The three-day event is being held inside the YMCA of Wooster's Chris Mathew Aquatics Center. Friday and Saturday's diving events are being contested at Wooster's Timken Natatorium.

Through 13 scored events, Mount Union leads the 10-team field with 1115 points. Westminster is in seventh place with 185 points.

The Titans' 200 medley 'A' relay opened Friday evening's session with an 13th-place finish, posting a time of 1 minute, 44.40 seconds. Relay members included freshmen Ethan Bishop (Meadow, Utah, Millard) and Joseph Galbraith (Waterford, Pa., Fort Le Boeuf), Katigbak and junior Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro).

Bishop was 16th overall and eighth in the 'B' final of the 400 IM, finishing with a time of 4:53.39. Sophomore Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) and Webster competed in the 'C' final of the 100 fly. Schohn was 21st overall and fifth in the opening heat (55.08) while Webster was 24th overall and eighth in the heat (56.54).

Katigbak was fifth in the championship final of the 100 back with a time of 52.48.

The 800 free 'A' relay finished 11th (7:44.52). Members of the relay were Bishop, Webster, Galbraith and Schohn.

Up next:
Saturday's preliminary events are scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m., with the non-championship final heats of the 1650 starting at 1 p.m. Men's 1-meter diving is scheduled for 2 p.m. The finals are scheduled for 5 p.m.
