Westminster competes at compete at Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.--The Westminster College women's outdoor track and field team got the 2023 season underway at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina University, this weekend.

The three-day event was held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

The Titans tied for 28th at the 32-team invitational, scoring one team point.

Highlighting the top performances was the 4x100-meter relay squad, which finished in eighth place with a time of 49.65 seconds. Relay members included freshman Anna Gunby (Johnstown, Pa. | Conemaugh Valley), junior Madison Conley (New Castle, Pa. | New Castle), junior Emma Rudolph (Santa Clarita, Calif. | Golden Valley) and junior Jess Fatigati (McDonald, Pa. | West Allegheny).

Sophomore Lexi Shiderly (New Castle, Pa. | Mohawk) posted an 11th-place finish in the shot put with a top throw of 11.53 meters (37-10).

Junior Caitlyn Goodrich (Chardon, Ohio | Chardon) finished 12th in the 400 meters (1:05.07).

Junior Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, Ohio | Streetsboro) was 15th in the "A" flight of the high jump, posting a top mark of 1.53 meters (5-00.25). She was also 17th in the qualifying round of the 100 hurdles (17.45), 46th in the long jump (4.90m, 16-01) and 47th in the 200 meters (27.35).

Freshman Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa. | Corry) placed 16th in the javelin (33.93m, 111-04) and freshman Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio | Crestview) finished 19th in the discus (33.21m, 108-11).

In the qualifying round of the 100 meters Rudolph was seventh (12.39) and Fatigati was 14th (12.52). Fatigati also finished 24th in the 200 meters (26.65).

Westminster will be back in action on Friday-Saturday, March 24-25 at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational.
