Iwig wins pole vault at PAC Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Sophomore Grace Iwig (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield) won the pole vault Thursday afternoon at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The two-day event is once again being held at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park. Through six scored events, Westminster is in second place with 39 points. 

Iwig cleared a season-best height of 3.70 meters (12-01.50) to win the pole vault. Senior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) posted personal best throws a pair of events, finishing as the runner-up in the hammer throw (44.17m, 144-11) and third in the javelin (36.48m, 119-08). 

Senior Monica Curtis (Harborcreek, Pa., Harbor Creek) was third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 12:04.73.

Freshmen Aubrey Rock (Butler, Pa., Butler) and Meghan Vadas (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown Fitch) finished fourth (3.25m, 10-08) and fifth (3.10m, 10-02), respectively, in the pole vault. 

Junior Jenna Zendron (West Sunbury, Pa., Moniteau) was fifth in the preliminaries of the 100 meters with a personal-best time of 12.63 while senior Ryann Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) was seventh in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles (16.31).

Up next:
Westminster will wrap up the PAC Championships Friday at West Virginia's Track and Field Complex at Mylan Park. Twenty-eight event finals are scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
