Westminster men fall at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving team suffered a 173-122 non-conference dual meet loss at the University of Mount Union's Hammond Natatorium 189-102 Saturday afternoon.

Saturday was the final dual meet of the season for Westminster (4-4). Mount Union pushed its dual meet record to 6-3 with the win. 

Graduate student Patrick Holton (Livonia, Mich. | Winston Churchill) earned a pair of diving victories Saturday. He totaled 187.00 points on the one-meter board and 302.80 points on the three-meter board. Junior Sean Perrone (Avondale, Pa. | Kennett) posted runner-up finishes in both the one-meter (157.65) and three-meter (233.35) events. Senior Jake Trzcinski (Beaver Falls, Pa. | Blackhawk) was third on the one-meter board (147.60). 

Junior Paul Kallaur (Bethel Park, Pa. | Homeschooled) claimed a win in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 28.52 seconds. 

Sophomore Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa. | Knoch) registered a win in the 400 IM (4:42.21) and was the runner-up in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.44). 

Graduate student Kevin MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Carlynton) finished as the runner-up in the 50 freestyle (23.55). Freshman Ron Whitehouse (Maryville, Tenn. | Maryville) was the runner-up in the 400 IM (4:55.79). Sophomore Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa. | Moon) was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly (58.33).

Sophomore Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla. | Bishop Kelley) was third in the 50 butterfly (25.96) and the 100 freestyle (50.71). Senior Stephen Adametz (Glenshaw, Pa. | Shaler) was third in the 50 backstroke (27.55). Sophomore Dawson Yocum (Flower Mound, Texas | Flower Mound) finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:53.33). Freshman Braden Bosco (Meadville, Pa. | Meadville) finished third in the 400 IM (5:03.54). 

Kallaur, Yocum, Duda and MacMurdo closed out the dual with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:32.95. The 200 medley relay, made up of Whitehouse, Kallaur, Adametz and Yocum, opened the meet with a runner-up finish (1:43.35). 

Westminster divers will participate in the Clarion University Diving Invitational Friday before hosting its annual Rich Senter Diving Invitational Saturday. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships are scheduled for February 15-18 at Grove City College.
