Swimming and Diving: Titans Split with Allegheny at Home

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed against Allegheny College in a non-conference dual meet at home on Friday.
 
The Titan men (4-1) defeated the Allegheny men (2-2) by a score of 179-119, while the Titan women (3-2) lost to the Allegheny women (4-0) 230-68.  
 
The Titan men won both relays in the meet. Senior Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley), junior Blaine Sorrick (Mantua, OH / Crestwood) and sophomores Trevor McCabe (Avon, NY / Avon Central) and Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico) teamed to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.50. Sorrick, Musselman and McCabe also teamed with senior Aaron Dunlany (Boardman, OH / Boardman) to claim a victory in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:29.23. Kwalick grabbed two individual victories in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.70 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.29. Sorrick also picked up a win in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.45, while Dunlany won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:03.45 and the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.62. In the 1 meter dive, sophomore Patrick Holton (Livonia, MI / Winston Churchill) grabbed individual medalist honors with a score of 268.20. Holton also won the 3 meter dive with a score of 327.10
 
For the women, senior Abigail Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch) tied for the best individual finish of the day for Westminster when she claimed second place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:14.60. Jones also grabbed second place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:41.51, while sophomore Megan Routch (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:42.32. Senior Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) earned second place in the 3 meter dive with a score of 227.40.
 
Westminster will be back in action on Saturday, January 25 when it travels to Latrobe, PA to take on Saint Vincent College in a conference matchup at 1 p.m.
