NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated the University of Mount Union at home Saturday afternoon.
The Titan men defeated Mount Union by a score of 188-110, while the Titan women were victorious, posting a score of 156-140. The men improved to an overall record of 8-1, while the women improved to 4-5 on the season.
The Titan women started the meet with a 200-yard medley relay victory. Sophomores
Alyssa Hampton (Anchorage, AK / AJ Dimond),
Abigail Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch), and
Nicole Stengel (Pittsburgh, PA / Carlynton) and junior
Carolyn Novak (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper St. Clair) swam the medley, posting a time of 1:54.81. Jones recorded two individual victories in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.72) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.33). Stengel also won two individual events, including the 100-yard freestyle (56.79) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.56). Novak finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (25.83), while first-year
Nyna Hess (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Davidson) rounded out the top finishers for the Titan women, swimming a first-place time of 2:20.41 in the 200-yard IM.

Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park) was victorious in both the 3 meter/6 dives (314.48) and the 1 meter/6 dives (265.35). May received a perfect 10 score on one of his dives, the first time a Titan diver has accomplished this feat in the four years diving coach
Heath Calhoun has been at Westminster. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) also swept the diving events with two first-place scores of 216.38 in the 1 meter/dives and 234.45 in the 3 meter/6 dives.

Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) were victorious in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.71. Peffer was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.46), while Bogen was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.19) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.16). Prior to the meet, Westminster's 13 seniors were honored and greeted by their parents to a packed Westminster Natatorium.
The Westminster diving team is next in action for the Titans as they host the final diving tune-up of the season on Saturday, February 10 starting at 1 p.m. The next swimming & diving meet is Wednesday, February 14 at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships in Grove City, Pa. The Championships run from February 14-17. Start time for each day is at 10 a.m.
