Full Results

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Grove City College in the Titans' last conference meet of the season Thursday evening.

The Wolverine women outdueled the Titan women, 163-137, while the Titan men edged Grove City 154-146.

The Titan men improved their overall record to 7-1 and stayed undefeated in the PAC at 4-0. Juniors Michael Spencer (Clearfield, PA / Clearfield) and Clay Murray (St. Thomas, PA / James Buchanan) and seniors Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) and Daniel Bogen (Canfield, OH / Canfield) were victorious in the 200-yard freestyle relay, swimming a time of 1:26.72, which broke the Westminster natatorium record. The record was previously held by Bethel Park High School with a time of 1:27.33 in 1996. Stahara was also victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.61) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.00), while Spencer swam to a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.86. Rounding out the first-place finishers for Westminster was senior Brad Kolesar (West Mifflin, PA / West Mifflin) who placed first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.85.

Westminster diving continued its dominance as it swept the competition. Freshman Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park) broke both of his school records he set previously this season in the 1 Meter/6 dives (314.78) and the 3 Meter/6 dives (328.20). The 3 Meter/6 dive score was also a new Westminster pool record, beating the previous record of 319.80 set by Brandon Peifer from SUNY Geneseo in 2014. Sophomore Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) placed first in both her diving events, scoring a total of 234.08 in the 1 Meter/6 dive. Her score of 258.65 in the 3 Meter/6 dives broke the school record, set by herself in 2017. First-year Zoe Cable (Brookville, PA / Brookville Area) finished second in the 3 Meter/6 dives (209.60) for the women and freshman Zack Thomas (Snohomish, WA / Snohomish) placed second in both the 1 Meter/6 dives (314.78) and the 3 Meter/6 dives (238.50) for the men.

The Westminster women fell to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Senior Megan Douds (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) swam her way to two first-place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:29.04) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:37.72). Douds has now won 12 individual races this season. First-year Nyna Hess (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Davidson) also swam to two first-place finishes, including the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.99) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:20.01).

Westminster is back in action Saturday, February 3 as it takes on the University of Mount Union. The Titans will be honoring their 13 seniors before the meet. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
