NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Washington & Jefferson College in their conference opener Wednesday evening.
The men, who extend their winning streak to four, defeated the Presidents, 194-88, while the women posted a winning score of 173-118. The Titan men improved their overall record to 4-0 and 1-0 in the conference, while the Titan women improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the PAC.
Titan freshman
Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park), who broke the school record earlier this season in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives, broke his own 3-meter diving record, posting a 306.45 score. May finished in first-place in that event, as well as placing first in the 1-meter dive (260.00). Titan freshman
Zack Thomas (Snohomish, WA / Snohomish) finished in second-place in the 1-meter, scoring a 251.60.
Westminster sophomore
Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) placed first in the women's 3-meter dive, scoring a total of 226.05 points.
The Titan men won 12 events on the evening. Seniors
Daniel Bogen (Canfield, OH / Canfield),
Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park), and sophomores
Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley) and
Thomas Somora (Grove City, PA / Grove City) placed first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:41.56. Stahara also won the 100-yard butterfly (53.42).
Junior
Clay Murray (St. Thomas, PA / James Buchanan) won the 50-yard freestyle (22.80) and 50-yard butterfly (23.95). Junior
David Peffer (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside) was victorious in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.87) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.03). Junior
Luke Simmons (Ashland, OH / Ashland) placed first in both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:46.72) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.04). Junior
Michael Spencer (Clearfield, PA / Clearfield) and sophomore
Matthew Bogen (Canfield, OH / Canfield) finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (50.48) and 50-yard breaststroke (29.24), respectively.

Megan Douds (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.28) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.06). Sophomore
Maggie Manolis (Jeannette, PA / Jeannette) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.12), while senior
Alyssa Rossi (Lakewood, OH / Bay) placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:44.44).
Westminster is back in action at home on Saturday, November 18. The Titans will face PAC opponent Chatham University. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
