Zitt and Dolsak lead Titans over Tomcats 61-55

Greenville, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team has won two games in a row, after beating the Thiel Tomcats 61-55 on Saturday. The Titans improved to 6-12 overall, and have saved their best basketball for conference play as they are 6-6 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). The Tomcats fell to 5-14 overall and 5-7 in the PAC.

Westminster outrebounded Thiel 45-40 for the game. As a team, the Titans shot an impressive 87% (20-for-23) from the free throw line. Sophomore Courtney Zitt (Latrobe, PA / Greater Latrobe) led the way for the Titans with 18 points and nine rebounds. She shot an efficient 50% (6-for-12) from the floor and was perfect from the free throw line (6-for-6). Senior Emily Dolsak (McDonald, OH / McDonald) finished with a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds), her eighth of her career.

Junior Jenn Cantella (Freedom, PA / Freedom) shot 3-for-5 from beyond the arc to follow the buzzer-beater in the win versus Waynesburg on Wednesday.

The game was back and forth in the first half with Westminster eventually leading at halftime 25-24. Thiel went out to a nine point lead, their biggest of the game with 15:03 to play in the second half. Again, the Titans kept battling and tried to narrow the margin. Zitt and Emily Montone (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) made clutch free throws with less than 10 seconds remaining to clinch the win for the Titans.

The women will look to make it three straight wins on Wednesday at home (Feb. 1) against Washington & Jefferson.
