Kovell wins 400 at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio--Freshman Zach Kovell (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) won the 400 meters Thursday at the Mount Union Last Chance. 

Kovell finished first in the 400 with a time of 49.01 seconds.

Sophomore Rylan Dye (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) finished second in the high jump, clearing a season-best 2.06 meters (6-09) while tying his career best mark. Freshman Deonte Stallings (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown-Fitch) was third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.46. He posted a personal-best time of 14.93 in the preliminaries. Stallings finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.24). 

Junior Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge) finished fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 57.81. Freshman Aaron Dickhart (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) was 11th in the 400 (54.22). 

At the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships, which were hosted by Ursinus, junior Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) was 14th in the discus with a top throw of 42.62 meters (139-10).

Up next:
The final descending-order list for next week's Division III Championships is scheduled to be released Friday night, with the top 22 declared student-athletes in each event being accepted into the competition. Wisconsin-La Crosse will serve as host for the three-day championship.
