Essey, Rambo win twice at Penn State Behrend

ERIE, Pa.--Westminster seniors Ryann Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) and Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) were double winners Saturday at the Penn State Behrend Invitational.

Essey won the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.15 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.72. Rambo won the shot put with a season-best mark of 13.30 meters (43-07.50) and the discus with a top throw of 41.81 meters (137-02). Freshman Zoe Puhala (Brockway, Pa., Brockway) won the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.91.

Senior Monica Curtis (Harborcreek, Pa., Harbor Creek) was second in the 3000-meter steeplechase (12:31.32) while junior Jenna Zendron (West Sunbury, Pa., Moniteau) was second in the 100 meters with a personal-best time of 12.63.

Freshman Jessica Barger (Blairsville, Pa., River Valley) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 37.16 meters (121-11) while freshman Gabby Armlin (Middleburgh, N.Y., Middleburg Central) was sixth in the 800 (2:43.98).
