Westminster men compete at Penn State Behrend

ERIE, Pa.--The Westminster men's outdoor track and field team finished with three individual winners and a victory in the 4x100-meter relay Saturday at the Penn State Behrend Invitational. 

Junior Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) won the discus with a top throw of 43.83 meters (143-10). He was also third in the hammer throw with a personal-best throw of 41.51 meters (136-02) and fifth in the shot put (13.00m, 42-07.75). Junior Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge) won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.23 seconds and finished third in 100 meters (11.15). Freshman Deonte Stallings (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown-Fitch) won the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.15 and finished second in the 400 hurdles with a personal-best time of 59.68.

Sophomore Rylan Dye (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) was second in the high jump (1.98m, 6-6.00) while freshman Zach Kovell (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) was second in the 100 (10.99) and 200 (21.71). Both times were personal bests. 

Freshman Jackson Friday (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) was third in the 110 hurdles (17.05) and fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:01.38) while junior Isaiah Dale (Claysville, Pa., McGuffey) finished third in the 400 hurdles (1:00.31) and fifth in the 110 hurdles (19.70). Graduate student Gino Piraino (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional) finished fourth in the 110 hurdles (18.43) and fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:08.20).

Senior Ben White (Warren, Pa., Warren) was fifth in the 100 (11.22) and senior Bryce Carroll (Sharon, Pa., Sharon) finished fifth in the hammer throw (33.18m, 108-10.00).

Westminster's 4x100-meter 'A' relay won with a time of 42.34. The relay included freshmen Robert Maderitz (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown Fitch) and Aaron Stebick (Butler, Pa., Butler), White and Kovell. The 'B' team, made up of sophomore Brite Cannon (Parkland, Fla., Monarch), Friday and freshmen Aaron Dickhart (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) and Nate Maher (Butler, Pa., North Catholic), finished third (43.71).

Westminster with participate in Allegheny's Marty Goldberg Gator Invitational next Friday at the Robertson Athletic Complex.
