Treharne, Rock, Dye qualify for Division III Championships

INDIANAPOLIS--Three Westminster indoor track and field competitors earned invitations to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 13-14 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. The Division III Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced this year's participants Sunday night. 

The event is being hosted by the city of Birmingham and Birmingham-Southern College. 

Senior Missy Treharne (Burton, Ohio, Beaumont School) and freshman Aubrey Rock (Butler, Pa., Butler) will compete in the pole vault. Treharne, a No. 16 seed, was one of two competitors with a seed mark of 3.88 meters (12-08.75). She won the event with a personal-best mark at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Feb. 26. Rock, a No. 13 seed, was one of three competitors with a seed mark 3.90 meters (12-09.50). She reached the personal-best mark with a third-place finish at the Youngstown State Icebreaker on Dec. 5. 

Sophomore Rylan Dye (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) was a qualifier in the high jump and will enter the Championships as a No. 10 seed, one of 11 competitors with a seed mark of 2.06 meters (6-09). He hit the personal-best mark at the PAC Championships in February.

Up next:
The pole vault is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Friday. The high jump is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Also, Westminster's outdoor season will get underway March 13-14 at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge. Hosted by the City of Myrtle Beach, the two-day event is being held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
