Three earn Academic All-District®

GREENWOOD, Ind.--Three members of Westminster's women's basketball program were recently honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) with Academic All-District® honors. 

Junior Kennedy Arison (Medina, Ohio, Akron Hoban) and sophomores Angelina Brush (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) and Maddie Syka (Darlington, Pa., Lincoln Park) were recognized.

Arison, a guard, maintains a 3.63 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) as a sports management major. She made starts in all 26 games last season, averaging 5.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Her 86 assists ranked 11th in the league. Arison was named to the league's All-Tournament Team February 28 and was selected as a member of the PAC's Sportsmanship Team March 4. She is a three-time Dean's List selection and has been named to the PAC's Spring Academic Honor Roll twice.

Brush, a guard, is a nursing major and carries 3.74 cumulative GPA. She made 10 starts and appeared in 24 games. Last season, she averaged 4.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Brush has been named to the College's Dean's List twice and was named to the PAC's Academic Honor Roll last spring.

Syka, a guard, maintains a 3.62 cumulative GPA as a business administration major. She made eight starts and appeared in all 26 games last season. Syka averaged 7.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She was second on the team in three-pointers made (28). Syka was named to the College's Dean's List twice.

Westminster concluded its season in the PAC Championship Tournament quarterfinal round, finishing the year with a 9-17 overall record and 6-10 mark in the conference. Entering as the No. 4 seed in the PAC's North Division, Westminster suffered a 61-57 loss to Saint Vincent, the No. 1 seed in the PAC's South Division.
