Westminster loses to Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster women's basketball team suffered a 74-43 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to rival Grove City Wednesday evening at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

Junior Grace Cano (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) led Westminster (9-15, 6-9 PAC) with 14 points. Sophomore Katie Maryo (Cleveland, Ohio, Magnificat) and freshman Bella Calcamuggio (Sylvania, Ohio, Notre Dame) had six points apiece on 2-of-4 shooting from three-point range.

Alexis Hudson paced Grove City (16-8, 10-5 PAC) with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Westminster cut the deficit to nine, 31-22, on sophomore Katie Grexa's (Hartford, Ohio, Badger) layup with just over two minutes left in the second. The Wolverines carried an 11-point lead, 33-22, into the break. Hudson knocked down a three-pointer with 13 seconds left in the third to stretch Grove City's lead to 23, 60-37. She had 12 points in the third.

Grove City outrebounded Westminster 48-30 and had a commanding 15-3 edge on the offensive glass. Westminster went just 1-of-9 from the free throw line.

Westminster will close out the regular season Saturday at Geneva (9-15, 6-9 PAC). Tipoff from Metheny Fieldhouse is scheduled for 1 p.m. Geneva edged Hiram 84-79 Wednesday.
