Strong fourth quarter pushes Westminster past Albright

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster men's lacrosse team netted seven-straight fourth quarter goals to earn an 18-10 victory over visiting Albright Wednesday night at the UPMC Sports Complex.

Westminster, winners of three-straight, improved to 4-4 this season.

Sophomore Ethan Kurtz (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) and freshman Brendan Robinson (Gainesville, Va., Gainesville) scored four goals each. It was Kurtz's sixth game of his career scoring four or more goals. It was Robinson's first four-goal game. Senior Brady Page (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) had three goals while junior Grady Tierney (Clear Lake Shores, Texas, Houston Christian) added one goal and a pair of assists.

Sophomore Jack Steimle (Mount Sinai, N.Y., Mount Sinai) went 19-of-28 in the faceoff circle and added eight ground balls. Sophomore Tanner Crosby (Park City, Utah, Park City) totaled five ground balls and four caused turnovers while senior Jahiem Hawkins (Huntington Station, N.Y., Huntington) had five ground balls and scored his second goal of the year with 12 minutes to go in the fourth, pushing Westminster's lead to five, 15-10.

Senior Jorden Tate (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) finished with four saves and a pair of ground balls.

Nick Antonio (4G, 1A) and Justin Moroney (5G) had five points each for Albright (3-5). Antonio scored his fourth goal with 1:21 left in the third quarter, cutting Westminster's lead to one, 11-10, heading into the fourth.

Westminster outshot Albright 63-23 and had a 35-14 advantage in shots on goal. The Titans were successful on 22 of their 23 clear attempts and went 2-of-3 on their extra-man chances.

Up next:
Westminster will wrap up its non-conference slate Saturday at Spalding (1-7). The opening faceoff from Legacy Fields is scheduled for 1 p.m.
