Westminster thumps Spalding, 29-4

LOUISVILLE--Sophomore Ethan Kurtz (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) registered his first eight-point game of the year Saturday afternoon, finishing with five goals and three assists in a 29-4 triumph at Spalding.

Winners of four straight, Westminster improved to 5-4 overall.

It was Kurtz's second five-goal game this season; he has three in his career. Kurtz's 22 goals rank No. 3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).

Seventeen players scored goals on Saturday; four netted the first goals of their career: sophomore Braylon Juszak (Novi, Mich., Novi) and freshmen Garrett Henning (Irwin, Pa., Norwin), Charlie West (Rockville, Md., Richard Montgomery) and Adam Teixeira (Sparta, N.J., Sparta).

Senior Zack Reid (Buffalo, N.Y., Frontier), sophomore Evan Wujek (Kansas City, Mo., Park Hill) and freshman Brendan Robinson (Gainesville, Va., Gainesville) each recorded two goals and two assists. Wujek added three ground balls and a caused turnover. Sophomore Jack Steimle (Mount Sinai, N.Y., Mount Sinai) went 16-of-25 from the faceoff circle and posted a career-high nine ground balls. Freshman Gianni DiSora (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper Saint Clair) had five ground balls and a caused turnover.

Senior Jorden Tate (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) made five first half saves to earn the win. He added three ground balls. Senior Zach Meszaros (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and freshman Evan White (Woodbridge, Va., Forest Park) worked the third and fourth quarters. Meszaros had three third quarter saves while White stopped a pair of shots.

Up next:
Westminster will host Grove City Wednesday evening. The opening faceoff from the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.
