Titans wrap up competition at Myrtle Beach Collegiate Classic

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.--The Westminster men's outdoor track and field team concluded its stay in South Carolina Saturday by competing on the second and final day of the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge.

Hosted by the City of Myrtle Beach, the two-day event was held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

The Titans got the day started with a seventh-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing with a time of 43.59 seconds. The relay included freshmen Aaron Stebick (Butler, Pa., Butler), Zach Kovell (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell), Aaron Dickhart (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) and Nate Maher (Butler, Pa., North Catholic).

Kovell posted a personal-best time of 22.31 in the 200 meters, finishing 11th. Freshman Jackson Friday (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) placed 15th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.48.

Freshman Daniel Mukaabya (Bridgeville, Pa., Union) finished 18th in the shot put with a top throw of 11.92 meters (39-01.25). Stebick was 21st in the 200 (22.65). Junior Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) was 26th in the 800 meters (2:05.36).

Up next:
Westminster will split its team Friday-Saturday, March 27-28 to compete at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational and the Tim Weaver Invitational, hosted by West Liberty.
