Westminster opens season at Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.--The Westminster women's outdoor track and field team opened its season at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge Friday afternoon.

Hosted by the City of Myrtle Beach, the two-day event is being held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

Freshmen Gabby Armlin (Middleburgh, N.Y., Middleburg Central) and Callie Reaugh (Blairsville, Pa., River Valley) were 16th and 17th, respectively, in the 5000 meters. Armlin finished with a personal-best time of 21:25.81 while Reaugh crossed the line in 21:31.54.

Senior Ryann Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) was 20th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 16.94.

Up next:
Westminster will wrap up the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge Saturday. Events are scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
