Titans compete at Friday's YSU Last Chance

4x400 relay sets new program record

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--The Westminster men's indoor track and field competed at the Youngstown State Last Chance, presented by Southwoods Health, on Friday. 

Sophomore Rylan Dye (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) finished in fourth place in the high jump, clearing 1.95 meters (6-04.75), while classmate Reed Yost (Wattsburg, Pa., Seneca) was eighth in the seeded pole vault event (4.67m, 15-03.75).

Freshmen Robert Maderitz (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown Fitch) and Imari Watson (Chambersburg, Pa., Chambersburg) were 10th (7.262) and 11th (7.267), respectively, in the qualifying round of the 60 meters. Senior Ben White (Warren, Pa., Warren) was 29th (7.46). 

Junior Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge) finished 14th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles (8.45) while freshman Ta'Rel Richardson-Heasley (Grove City, Pa., Grove City) was 15th in the triple jump (11.75m, 38-06.75) and 32nd in the long jump (5.35m, 17-06.75). Junior Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) finished 21st in the weight throw (13.93m, 45-08.50) and freshman Nick Bender (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) was 25th in the 3000 (9:20.83). 

Freshman Zach Kovell (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) was 26th in the 200 (22.61) while classmate Aaron Stebick (Butler, Pa., Butler) was 31st (22.79). Junior Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) finished 32nd in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:34.97, improving on his personal best by over seven seconds. 

The 4x400 relay wrapped up the night with an eighth-place finish, finishing with a program-record time of 3:23.49 and eclipsing the previous record (3:25.50) by over two seconds. The time currently tops the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) performance list. Members of the relay included Mull, junior Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex), Stebick and Kovell. 

Up next:
Westminster will participate in the WGH PAC Tune-up next Saturday at the Warren City Schools Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
