Men's golf eighth at Guy & Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster College men's golf team finished eighth at the Guy & Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational Monday afternoon.

The two-day, 13-team event was held at the Country Club of Meadville. Carnegie Mellon's 'B' team won the event with a team score of 578, following up Sunday's 294 with a 284 on Monday. Host Allegheny was second with a 589 (296-293). Westminster combined for a 630. The Titans shot a 307 Monday after a 323 on Sunday. 

Allegheny's Connor Bell and Carnegie Mellon's Will Blankenship tied for the top individual spot. Bell (67) earned medalist honors on the tiebreaker with Blankenship (69) with the better second round score. 

Freshman Brody Pirt (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) finished in a four-way tie for 15th with a 151. He shot a 76 on Sunday and followed it up with a 75 on Monday. Junior Jonathan Haddox (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) was one of five players to tie for 22nd after posting a 154. He scored a 76 Monday after Sunday's round of 78. Freshman Aydan Gross (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mount Pleasant ) was 31st (156, 77-79) and senior Nicholas Vitale (New Castle, Pa., Union) finished 61st (187, 92-95). 

Next:
Westminster will compete in The Northeast Elite Sunday and Monday. The two-day event, hosted by Penn College, is being hosted by the Williamsport Country Club.
