Conley, Davis punch tickets to Division III Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS--Westminster College graduate students Madison Conley (New Castle, Pa., New Castle) and Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, Ohio, Streetsboro) have earned invitations to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 14-15 at the Golisano Training Center in Rochester, N.Y. The NCAA Division III Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants Sunday night. 

Conley was among the 20 qualifiers in the pole vault while Davis qualified in both the high jump and pentathlon.

Conley, a two-time All-American, was seventh at both the indoor and outdoor national championships last year. Saturday, she finished second in the pole vault at Ohio Northern's Polar Bear Final Qualifier, clearing 3.68 meters (12-00.75). Conley enters the championships tied as the No. 14 seed after winning the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) title, clearing a season-best 3.83 meters (12-06.75) on Feb. 27.

Davis was a high jump qualifier at last May's outdoor championships. This will be her first appearance at the indoor championships. 

Saturday, she won the pentathlon at Shenandoah's South Regional Final Qualifier and Multi with a personal-best and school-record score of 3,369 points. She won the high jump, clearing 1.67 meters (5-05.75), and was second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.46 seconds, second in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 9.98 meters (32-09), second in the long jump (5.11m, 16-09.25) and second in the 800 meters (2:36.15). Davis' 3,3369 points were enough to earn the No. 20 seed. On Feb. 14 at Youngstown State's Last Chance she cleared a school-record 1.71 meters (5-07.25) in the high jump.She is tied for the No. 6 seed in the event.

The pentathlon's five events are scheduled to commence at 11:20 a.m. Friday, beginning with the 60 hurdles. The pole vault is scheduled for 11 a.m. The high jump is slated for 3 p.m. on Saturday.
