Titans edged at home

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) swam to three first-place finishes for the Westminster College men's swimming and diving program in Thursday's 139-135 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet setback at home to rival Grove City College. 
 
Westminster claimed seven individual event wins on Thursday. 

The Titans opened the evening with second- and third-place finishes in the 200 medley relay. The "A" relay finished second, registering a time of 1 minute, 44.41 seconds. Relay members included Katigbak, freshman Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla., Forest), senior Sam Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) and freshman Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum). Senior Jack Mickle (Presto, Pa., Bishop Canevin), senior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch), sophomore Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) and senior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) made up the "B" relay, which was third (1:44.41). 

Katigbak won the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.16, the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.78 and the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.96. Duda won the 1000 with a time of 10:44.88 and the 500 with a time of 5:06.05. Bumbach won the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.82, was second in the 200 freestyle (1:52.06) and finished third in the 200 butterfly (2:11.11).

Sophomore Colton Super (Aliquippa, Pa., Central Valley) was first on both the 1-meter (181.65) and 3-meter (214.00) boards. 

Schohn was second in both the 100 freestyle (51.92) and the 100 butterfly (56.93) and third in the 50 freestyle (23.87) while Peck finished second in the 1000 (11:06.66) and third in the 500 (5:24.52). Phillips was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.23) and third in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.04) while senior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.76).

The meet was decided by the final event: the 200 freestyle relay. Grove City's "A" relay won with a time of 1:32.85. Westminster's "A" relay, made up of Mickle, senior Steel Boyer (Mohrsville, Pa., Schuylkill Valley), Benedict and Peck, finished second (1:40.63).
 
Up Next:
Westminster will host its Senior Recognition Day Saturday when it welcomes Chatham University to New Wilmington. Senior Recognition is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m., with the mystery meet slated to get underway at 1 p.m.
