Titans fourth after opening day of PAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Swimming and Diving Championships got underway Wednesday night at Grove City College's James E. Longnecker Competition Pool, and the Westminster College men's program is currently in fourth place after a pair of events. 

Westminster got the evening underway with a fifth-place finish in the 200 medley relay, with the "A" squad registering a time of 1 minute, 40.32 seconds. Relay members included freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian), senior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch), freshman Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla., Forest) and senior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley). The "B" relay, made up of senior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon), senior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair), sophomore Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) and senior Jack Mickle (Presto, Pa., Bishop Canevin), was 12th (1:45.17). 

Duda, Phillips, freshman Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) and Bumbach, members of Westminster's 800 freestyle "A" relay, finished third with a time of 7:19.59. The "B" relay, made up of senior Steel Boyer (Mohrsville, Pa., Schuylkill Valley), Cory Webster, senior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) and Hayne Webster, was 10th (7:42.12). 

Host Grove City leads after two events with 116 points. Washington & Jefferson College is second (92) and Saint Vincent College is third (86). Westminster has 84 points. 

Up Next:
Six events will be decided during Thursday evening's finals, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
