Rambo sixth in shot put Saturday at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--Junior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) scored a sixth-place finish in the elite shot put competition to lead the Westminster College women's indoor track and field program at the two-day Youngstown State University Mid-Major Invitational, presented by Southwoods Health, Saturday evening.

Rambo registered a top throw of 11.84 meters (38-10.25) on her opening attempt. Junior Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) and sophomore Molly Gibson (Leetonia, Ohio, Leetonia) were 10th and 12th, respectively, in the open shot put competition. Brady posted a throw of 10.33 meters (33-10.75) while Gibson equaled her career best throw with a toss of 10.15 meters (33-03.75). 

Graduate student Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, Ohio, Streetsboro) was second in the high jump with a best mark of 1.59 meters (5-02.50) and finished seventh in the triple jump (10.23m, 33-06.75). She also finished 10th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.64 seconds. Senior Kaya Skinner (Oil City, Pa., Oil City) was 25th in the triple jump (9.08m, 29-09.50). 

Sophomore Jenna Zendron (West Sunbury, Pa., Moniteau) was 22nd in the 400 meters (1:04.85) and 37th in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 27.67. She also placed 38th in the preliminaries of the 60 meters (8.40).

Westminster is scheduled return to Youngstown on Friday, Feb. 14 for Youngstown State's Last Chance. Saturday, the Titans are scheduled to head to Geneva, Ohio for the SPIRE Indoor Games.
