Titans suffer road loss at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving team suffered a 168-85 non-conference dual meet loss at the University of Mount Union Saturday afternoon inside the Hammond Natatorium.

The Titans opened Saturday's meet with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay, registering a time of one minute, 55.65 seconds. Seniors Steel Boyer (Mohrsville, Pa., Schuylkill Valley) and Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch), sophomore Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) and senior Jack Mickle (Presto, Pa., Bishop Canevin) made up the relay. 

Westminster finished 1-2-3 in the 200 IM. Senior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) won the event with a time of 2:18.29 and also finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.55). Senior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) finished second in the 200 IM (2:20.84) while Boyer was third (2:23.96). 

Freshmen Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla., Forest) and Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) were second and third, respectively, in the 200 freestyle. Bumbach posted a time of 1:54.13 while Katigbak finished with a time of 1:56.57. Katigbak also finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:03.12) while Bumbach finished third in the 50 freestyle (23.30). 

Senior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) was second in the 100 (10:43.52) while freshman Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) and Boyer finished second and third in the 200 butterfly. Schohn registered a time of 2:16.03 while Boyer had a time of 2:24.17. 

Westminster's 200 freestyle "A" relay closed out the dual with a win, posting a time of 1:35.29. Members of the "A" relay included Katigbak, Schohn, Bumbach and Duda. The Titans' "B" relay, made up senior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch), Peck, Benedict and senior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon), was second (1:43.68).
