Westminster suffers PAC loss to Hiram

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving team suffered a 136-81 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet loss to Hiram Saturday afternoon. 

Westminster fell to a 2-3 overall record and a 2-2 PAC record. Hiram improved its record to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the PAC.

Westminster opened the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of 1 minute, 47.32 seconds. Members of the relay included sophomore Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian), graduate student Gino Piraino (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional), sophomore Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) and freshman Joseph Galbraith (Waterford, Pa., Fort Le Boeuf)

Katigbak and Schohn both won multiple events Saturday. Katigbak won the 100 back (55.22) and 200 back (2:18.86) and finished second in the 200 breast (2:27.21). Schohn won the 200 free (1:57.11) and 100 fly (56.89). 

Piraino was the lone diver in the 1-meter diving event and posted 308.70 points. He was also second in the 100 breast (1:15.20). Junior Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) finished second in the 200 fly (2:35.25), 500 free (5:36.41) and 200 IM (2:19.02) while Galbraith was second in the 50 free (23.82) and 100 free (52.94).

Westminster concluded the meet with a runner-up finish in the 400 free relay (3:48.51). Members of the relay included Schohn, Piraino, Webster and Galbraith.

Up Next:
Westminster hosts Wooster Saturday. The non-conference meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
