Katigbak wins three events at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa.--Sophomore Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) won three events for the Westminster College men's swimming and diving team Saturday in a 159-94 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to Washington & Jefferson inside Henry Memorial Natatorium. 

Westminster's record fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the league. W&J improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC.

Westminster opened with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of 1 minute, 52.17 seconds. Members of the relay included freshman Ethan Bishop (Meadow, Utah, Millard), graduate student Gino Piraino (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional), junior Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) and freshman Joseph Galbraith (Waterford, Pa., Fort Le Boeuf)

Katigbak registered first-place finishes in the 100 back (55.41), 50 free (23.06) and 200 back (2:05.49). Sophomore Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla., Forest) won the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.03. He also finished second in the 100 breast (1:07.05) and third in the 50 free (23.58). Bishop won the 500 free (5:25.84) and finished second in the 1000 free (11:27.57) and 400 IM (5:03.48). 

Sophomore Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) finished second in the 200 free (1:56.16), 100 free (53.47) and 100 fly (58.71). Galbraith was third in the 100 free (53.76) while Webster was third in the 200 breast (2:50.98). Piraino finished second on the 1-meter board, totaling 193.88 points.

The Titans closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:31.85). Relay members were Katigbak, Schohn, Galbraith and Bumbach. 

Up next:
Westminster continues its PAC schedule next Saturday at Allegheny. Events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. inside the Mellon Pool.
