Ritzert leads Westminster men at Youngstown State Friday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--Westminster College junior Jalen Ritzert (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) got off to a terrific start Friday at the Youngstown State University Mid-Major Invitational, presented by Southwoods Health.

Ritzert currently sits in seventh place in the heptathlon with 2,134 points. Friday he finished fifth in the high jump, equaling his personal best after clearing 1.70 meters (5-07). Ritzert was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 9.15 meters (30-00.25), ninth in the long jump with a top mark of 5.69 meters (18-08) and 12th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.747 seconds. Saturday, he will conclude the seven-event competition by participating in the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000 meters.

Junior Bryce Carroll (Sharon, Pa., Sharon) was 30th in the weight throw's open competition with a top mark of 9.41 meters (30-10.50).
