Bumbach wins three events against Saint Vincent

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Freshman Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla., Forest) had three individual wins in Westminster College's 156-104 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet loss against visiting Saint Vincent College Saturday afternoon.

Westminster opened with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:43.65). Members of the relay included freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian), senior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair), Bumbach and senior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley).

Bumbach won the 200 freestyle (1:52.14), the 200 backstroke (2:06.27) and the 200 IM (2:03.37). His time in the 200 back was a season-best. 

Freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) won the 50 freestyle (22.94) and was second in the 100 backstroke (55.67) and 200 breaststroke (2:27.56). Duda won the 1650 (18:24.75) while senior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) finished second in the 1650 (18:25.09) and 500 (5:32.93). Senior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) was second in the 100 butterfly (58.75).

The meet concluded with Westminster's second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:37.36). C. Webster, senior Jack Mickle (Presto, Pa., Bishop Canevin), sophomore Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) and freshman Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) made up the relay.

Westminster is scheduled to compete in PennWest Clarion's Hrovat Diving Invitational on Friday, Jan. 31. On Saturday, Feb. 1, Westminster will travel to Alliance, Ohio to take on the University of Mount Union at 1 p.m. inside the Hammond Natatorium.
