Men participate in Akron's Al Campbell Invitational

AKRON, Ohio--Members of the Westminster College men's indoor track and field program competed at the sixth annual Al Campbell Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron, Friday evening inside the Still Athletics Field House.

Sophomore Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge) was fourth in the long jump with a top mark of 6.13 meters (20-01.50). He also finished 14th in the 200 with a time of 23.28 seconds.  

Sophomore Gino Piraino (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional) finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 9.67 seconds. Sophomore Kory White (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown Fitch) tied for sixth in the high jump (1.77m, 5-09.75) and sophomore Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) finished seventh in the 800 (2:02.02). 

Sophomores Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) and Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) finished eighth and 11th, respectively, in thee shot put with both posting indoor personal-best throws. Crown's top throw measured 14.40 meters (47-03) while Crider's top mark was 13.01 meters (42-08.25). Crider (12.89m, 42-03.50) and Crown (11.94m, 39-02.25) were 11th and 14th, respectively, in the weight throw. 

Sophomore Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) finished 12th in the 3000 with a personal-best time of 9:38.48 while senior Dane Fasick (New Brighton, Pa., New Brighton) was 16th in the mile, finishing with a personal-best time of 4:35.90.

Westminster wrapped up the night with a fourth-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:43.22). Relay members included sophomore Isaiah Dale (Claysville, Pa., McGuffey), Piraino, Mull and Jones.

Westminster is scheduled to compete at the SPIRE Midwest Open next Saturday, Jan. 25. Events are slated to begin at 10 a.m.
