Titans fall at Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving program suffered a 228-56 dual meet loss to The College of Wooster Saturday afternoon inside the Timken Natatorium.

Freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) scored Westminster's lone victory Saturday, winning the 200 backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 04.94 seconds. He also finished second in the 100 backstroke (56.27) and third in the 500 (5:30.70). 

Senior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) posted a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:53.75) and finished fourth in both the 100 freestyle (52.65) and 400 IM (4:37.93). Freshman Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla., Forest) was a third-place finisher in both the 1000 (11:08.00) and 100 butterfly (56.44). 

The Titans opened with a fourth-place finish (1:46.27) in the 200 medley relay. Members included Katigbak, senior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair), Bumbach and Duda. The meet concluded with Westminster's fifth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.33). Seniors Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon), Jack Mickle (Presto, Pa., Bishop Canevin), sophomore Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) and freshman Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) competed as members of the relay.

Westminster will host its annual Rich Senter Diving Invitational on Friday, Jan. 17 with events scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 25, Westminster will host Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Saint Vincent College at 1 p.m. inside the Westminster Natatorium.
